Tamworth is a designated tourist destination based on events. We know how to throw a country music festival party - but we're also big on conferences, conventions, trade shows and cultural galas around the rest of the calendar.
Many of those events are held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC). It was purpose built by Tamworth Regional Council in 1998 and hosts events ranging from the very large to the not so large.
It seats 5000 in the main hall and 1,800 in a lyric mode. There are separate break out rooms and meeting areas off the main auditorium. TRECC plays host to some of the most spectacular of shows - including the red carpet Golden Guitar Awards - the Oscars of country music - for 5000 fans every year. In between awards nights, it's home for everything from rock concerts to agricultural shows, car launches, home exhibitions and school spectaculars.
It boasts superior audio and visual technology, catering and bar areas, green rooms and flexible stage configurations. Getting to it is easy. It's within walking distance of good accommodation and retail and hospitality outlets and within five minutes drive from most accommodation venues in the city.
On a larger scale, it's conveniently placed midway between Brisbane and Sydney - and on the great north-south driveway that is Brisbane to Melbourne. Getting to Tamworth is easy as. We're one of the top 10 busiest airports with six air services every day between Tamworth and Sydney. We fly to Newcastle too. It's a five hour drive from Sydney to the TRECC.
